2025 Impact Report

Leading with Purpose and Place

A Message from Our President

Dr. Ann Hwang

In these times, we believe more than ever in the importance of community and in supporting connections—between youth, families and community leaders of all types — deeply rooted in place. In a time when our public spaces and discourse are divisive and violent, this is where we see the possibility for continued personal and civic relationships of belonging and mutuality.

In 2025, we invested in bold efforts in Eastern Massachusetts to disrupt the inequities that lead to too many preventable, premature deaths in our communities.

Our work continues to be guided by community insights about what is needed to close the gap in life expectancy. In response to immediate challenges impacting health, particularly among immigrant communities, we added responsive and fl exible grants to our portfolio and signifi cantly invested in food access. We will continue to evolve our grantmaking to refl ect the priorities that communities identify as essential for advancing health equity.

On behalf of the Board and our team, we feel grateful every day to be able to do this work, and to collaborate with and be inspired by the youth, families, organizations and leaders across Eastern Massachusetts who continue to focus on making their communities healthier and stronger.
